24H Cycling race in Le Mans: Great time for the 2009 contestants, but what about 2010?
Le Mans 2010 24H Cycling race will be held on 21st and 22nd of August on the world-renowned Bugatti racetrack in France. Registrations will open the 6th of November. Lynne COLDRAY, 2009 soloist rider from UK, gives us her feeling: « If I had to sum up Le Mans 24H it would be, ‘superb event go and do it’. [ . . . ] My husband who supported me through out wants to enter a team next year.[ . . . ] The excellent organisation avoided rider anxiety : informative web site, great to have a UK briefing, camping excellent, nice French music bands, Start well organised and thought flags and anthems brilliant... » Dean TUCKER, Team USE CADBURY from UK : « Thought the race was brilliant, Very well organised, superb facilities, everyone was very professional. The atmosphere throughout the event was very friendly. This is an event that will grow and grow.» With 1130 contestants in 2009, including 66 from foreign countries, this second edition should bring even more riders. The event organiser is already working on improvment for 2010… The last 22nd and 23rd of August, 280 teams took part in the 24H Cycling race’s first edition. The start « type Le Mans », given by Gérard Holtz (famous french sport journalist), will remain a highlight instant in the contestants’ memories. (See picture). After a good battle, the four riders’ D’Phi team finally wins the race, with more of 587miles (945km) gone through at a medium speed of 24,4 miles per hour (39,26km/h). First in the six riders’ category, the team led by the french car’s driver Stéphane Sarrazin will finish second in the overall ranking, as in the last Le Mans 24H Car race with Peugeot.
