BicyclesFocus on: Wilier 101 SLR
The model Wilier 101 SLR is one of the novelties of 2011 Wilier. SLR stands for Superleggera Racing, a model derived from the known 101 Superleggera, but moved into mass production some technical features until now only found on bikes of the athletes of the Team Lampre. The frame holds the carbon fiber monocoque construction, using a mix of high modulus carbon fiber T60, T46 and T30, arranged according to different areas of the frame, so as to have the strongest carbon fiber in the most stressed and the lowest possible weight in the less subject to loads work. This allowed to reduce weight to about 920 grams, in the average size, good value, although not extreme, given that today the limit and close to 800 grams and in particular cases even less than this value. The fork weighs about 360 grams, in this case an average value, far from the new proposals that fall below 300 grams. This stems from the desire to create a very rigid frame, even at the expense of research absolute minimum weight, which is still contained, easily below the regulatory limit of UCI. The frame 101 SLR, is characterized by a matte finish, but especially for the new geometric dimensions that characterize and differentiate it from 101 Superleggera deeply. The top tube is longer, while the head tube is lower, as well as the rear is more compact, but the wheelbase is longer. This leads to a more relaxed riding position, more aerodynamic. The rearstay most compact increases responsiveness and improves acceleration, while the longer wheelbase improves the stability and steering precision. Also new is the bottom bracket, which is lightened by a process of milling with CNC machines. New also caps the number of steering, now carbon monocoque. Remains unchanged, however, the forks straight and the general aesthetics of the frame, with an area of the central movement Over Size, a generous section of the tube, as well as the horizontal. Very short, but a good size head tube. The compact rear triangle with pipes joint with large areas of hardening, and the bottom bracket to top tube. Remains the characteristic integrated seatpost. The bike is then assembled with the new Campagnolo Super Record adopted in full, with controls, gearboxes, front derailleur, sprocket, chain, crankset and brakes. The micro seatpost is Ritchey WCS, while the integrated handlebar is FSA. The saddle is a San Marco Regale, the wheels are Fulcrum Racing Speed XLR. In addition to this configuration is available the frame kit and assembled bike with Shimano Dura Ace and SRAM Red, with different wheel models. The frame kit is priced at about Euro 4100, and described the bike has cost about 9800 Euro. A bike that does not ha sin weight its main feature, but it is the rigidity of the frame its best feature. The proposed assembly are all high quality and allow the bike to go down anyway under 7kg, however great a burden. It is not a comfortable bike, but with high performance that can be expressed and the excellent driving skills, make it an excellent model for all athletes and enthusiasts of the most extreme bike and "pure racing". The price of the frame kit is not contained and is in the high-end market, in line with the best products in the industry, which are the direct competitors of this model. Same goes for the bike assembled, which has equal components can cost about 1000 Euros more than other less famous models. The technical features at the top, the build quality and performance of this model, however, justify the prices. A model that does not go unnoticed, costly and challenging to ride, but that pays off with top performance.
