BicyclesTechnical Analysis: Bianchi Methanol SX2 2012
Bianchi Methanol SX2 is an evolution of the former Methanol SX. The frame has been revised in many places, while keeping everything the same aesthetics of the previous one and the same geometry. The monocoque frame is made of carbon and surface finish UD. The top tube and oblique are made using a process called Triple Wall Tube, a soul inside the tube that strengthens and stiffens it possible to use smaller sections with the same rigidity and saving weight. These stiffening ribs that start from the head tube to get to the bottom bracket and the seat tube (Embbedded Reinforcement Construction), stiffening the tubes with a reduced weight gain. The rear triangle has a carbon fiber dropouts and high-profile S of the tubes, a design developed by Bianchi that ensures better vibration absorption. The bottom bracket has classic standard. New tapered headset and mounting of the rear brake post mount with 160 mm disc. The frame weighs 1200 grams. The bike is proposed as a frame kit, as assembled bikes will be offered in versions Methanol SX2 9400 (Shimano XT 2x10), Methanol SX2 9300 (Shimano XT/SLX 3x10), Methanol SX2 9100 (Shimano SLX/Deore). For the specific assembly of the two models, see previous articles, shortly first ride impressions.
