A stable, secure and high performance bike
The 2012 Bianchi Methanol SX2 is the evolution of Methanol SX and revised in many places in the assembly. The frame is also made of carbon monocoque with UD a surface finish. The sloping top tube and the down tube has an inner core (Triple Wall Tube), which strengthens and stiffens, and in this way are small sections of the tubes, reducing the weight at the same rigidity. The ribs start from the head tube and bottom bracket to get to the seat tube (Embbedded Reinforcement Construction), further stiffen frame with a reduced weight gain. The rear triangle has carbon fiber dropouts and a common design to the range Methanol which ensures better absorption of vibrations. The bottom bracket is standards. The tapered headset have bearings 1 inch and 1/8 and 1 inch and ½. The rear brake assembly type Post Mount. The frame weighs 1200 grams. The bike being tested was assembled with the Shimano XT 2x10, used to the controls, the rear and front derailleur, the sprocket 11-36 and chain are Shimano SLX. Brakes are Magura MT4, the Comet 386 40/28 crankset is FSA. The fork is a Magura Durin X LCL. Stem, handlebar and seatpost FSA are aluminum. The San Marco saddle is Condor. The wheels are Fulcrum Red Power XL tires Hutchinson Cobra Airlight, 26x2.10. As standard the pedals, Shimano PDM505-LR and Elite bottle cage Paron. So assembled, and in size 48 without pedals, the bike has a weight of 10.3 kg, as observed with our instrumentation.
