The new BMC bike Impec introduces a number of important innovations in the production of frames, with an innovative process of making carbon tubes. To do this, BMC has built a new factory in Switzerland, where he works in a robot that automatically weaves carbon fiber, directly and automatically create the carbon tube. The gaming system also automates the conjunction of the pipes, made by compressed carbon fiber inserts. All of the automation system has enabled the elimination of the possibility of error in construction of the frame. In this way also, according to BMC, it was possible to combine the positive features of the monocoque frame (weight/stiffness ratio) with the classic frame wrapped (more comfort, greater ability of range measures). For the moment the bike is available in four versions are assembled with the groups Shimano Dura Ace Di2, Campagnolo Super Record and SRAM Red. In the near future will also be available only frame kit. The frame has an aesthetic characterized by prominent than the lugs to the tubes as well as a range of technical options against the current. Version Impec Team with Campagnolo Super Record and Easton EC90 wheels at a cost of about € 8.499; version Impec Noble with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR wheels, has a cost of € 9.999. Without doubt, a great bike, but the joints in carbon are poorly made, seem fragile, at least on the exposed specimens, however, their finishing is not adequate for a high-end bikes. Excellent and beautiful pipes in carbon. Perfect assembly. The prices are high, despite the complete automation of production of the frame. In addition, the sizes are very few, too few if we consider that it is a frame wrapped in high-end, which should point to more customization possible. Everything from then verify the actual weight of the bike, even if it should be under the 7 kg, including pedals. That said, an excellent high-end bikes, which unfortunately it does pay well.
