Team Omega Pharma-Lotto continues its collaboration with Canyon. Since this year, many athletes use the model Canyon Aeroad CF, news of 2011. In the pictures we see the bike of the winner of the 2011 Montepaschi Strade Bianche, Philippe Gilbert, the bike that cut as first the finish line in Piazza del Campo in Siena. The new Aeroad CF frame is made of high modulus carbon monocoque, especially the fork, with the possibility to adjust the position of dropout, so as to stop the wheel forward or back and get a bike more stable or easier to handle. All tubes of the frame have a large section aero. In particular is a good size oblique tube, the area of the bottom bracket and the chainstays tubes. Smaller pipes seatstays tubes and the top tube. The vertical tube has the classic profile aero and dedicated seatpost. The headset tapered is with bearings by 1 inch and 1/8 and 1 inch and ½. Very rigid and well-sized area of the tube. The frame weighs less than a kilogram. The Philippe bike’s is then assembled with Campagnolo Record 11v. The group is used for the controls, brakes, crank, sprocket, chain, front and rear derailleur. On the bike you notice some peculiarities: the rear derailleur is still in the 2010 version, is present a chain guide and wheels should be Mavic, but either have been assembled for the roads with non Mavic elements, or are the prototype of a new Mavic 2012 model, as evidenced by joint production hubs and spokes Mavic. Other athletes then use the crank with SRM power detector. The brake pads are Mavic, specifically for carbon fiber rims. The pedals are Look Keo Carbon Blade, while the tubes are Continental. The saddle is Selle Italia Team Edition, handlebar and stems and are Ritchey WCS aluminum; Tacx bottle cage, while the SRM cycle computer is always a sign that Gilbert uses the SRM power detector in training but not in the race. A bike more than excellent, light and stiff, and excellent overall performance and much attention to detail.
