BicyclesFocus on: Cannondale Jekyll Carbon 2
After some years of absence and returned to the Cannondale catalog Jekyll model, which maintains its destination All Mounatin, but evolves in every aspect. Two frames available in aluminum and high modulus carbon. The frame Jekyll Carbon Hi Mod, is a monocoque frame that uses the same carbon fibers BallisTec Cannondale already used on other models, both on-road bike. The mix of carbon fibers, suitably oriented, is chosen according to the different areas of the frame, so as to achieve high levels of rigidity in the most stressed. A particularity of the implementation process is the insertion of the bottom bracket, with standard BB30, before the molding phase, in order to achieve a more rigid structure and better integrated part of carbon fiber and aluminum. Also characteristic is the series of steering bearings to 1 inch and 1/2 and a generous size of the short tube. Large tube that also goes to join the BB30 bottom bracket over size, also to better withstand the stresses that come from the shock. This was positioned above the bottom bracket to lower the center of gravity and center the masses, so as to make the bike more stable and manageable at the same time. The tube, called Clashnikov, is characterized by a flared at the junction and oversized seat at the head tube. The tight linkage damper using through pins on both sides, so as to increase the rigidity of the structure. Detail is the new Fox shock Dyad RT2, studied together at Cannondale. This shock has two different tubes: one characterized by a lower volume of air travel and a low travel (Elevate), the other with a greater volume of air travel and a greater (Flow). The two volumes of air are completely separated and have two different independent circuits, with separate settings. The 150 or 90 mm of travel is adjustable via a handlebar switch to choose between the position Elevate or Flow, thus changing the height and angle of inclination of the bicycle fork. The Carbon 2 model is then completed with the fork Fox 32 Talas RL with 150 mm of travel, and for the front axle by 15 millimeters. The wheels are Sun Ringle Black Flag Expert supplemented by Schwalbe 26x2.4 tires. The rear wheel's axle to 142x12 mm. Stem, handlebar and seatpost are Cannondale C2, the saddle is a Fi'zi:k Gobi XM. The group has adopted a mix of SRAM, X9 with controls, rear derailleur X9, X7 front derailleur, Shimano SLX 10v 11-36 sprocket, KMC chain and crankset 44/33/22 SRAM Sl 400. The brakes are Avid Elixir CR, with 185 mm discs. Available sizes are: S, M, L, XL, two colors. So assembled, the bike has cost about 4299 Euro. The weight is around 12.3 kg, just under Jekyll Carbon 1, which is expected to reach 12.1 kg and well less than Jekyll 3, with an aluminum frame, that weighs approximately 13.4 kg. Then the model Carbon 2, despite its limitations, can be considered a happy medium, in cost/weight/performance. The carbon frame is excellent, as well as the new rear suspension. Good components Cannondale C2, while one could make an effort to minimize the mix of group members, which, however, does not affect their reliability. A bike, light, for the category pedaled uphill and downhill fun. Remains slower than a bike with full travel smaller and is more fun downhill, with a greater chance to reach higher limits. It 's a bike climb 50% and 50% down, with all the limitations and benefits that may ensue. The price is right, for the high quality of the frames and the innovative rear suspension, the rest of the components is suitable for a list. In conclusion an excellent All Mountain bike.
