BicyclesCannondale Slice 2012
The last stage of the Giro d’Italia saw the debut of the new Cannondale Slice 2012. The new frame time trial/triathlon has been completely revised and updated. New fork with integrated series of steering and brakes with v-brake aero. These brakes taking and copying what has already been made by Storck or Trek with their bicycles. The difference is that in Cannondale Slice 2012 they are far less integrated into the fork and therefore less aerodynamic, though much better than the previous Slice that still had them placed in front. The same approach and the body is also used to brake the rear wheel where the brake is located on the bottom bracket and above the wheel, as in the past. Again the main triangle frame, with a more oblique section, a more horizontal and flat, wide bottom bracket area that uses a large area reinforcement, combining down tube and seat tube. The area of the head tube is oversized. The seat tube follows the contour of the rear wheel and continues with a "fin" which extends beyond the aerodynamic seatpost. The rear triangle has lower hoses from the news section and not abundant. The bike was then assembled with Vision aero bars, SRAM Red group and Mavic wheels. Remains the crankset Cannondale/Sram chainrings and Speedplay pedals. Compared to the 2011 Slice a step forward, although it remains far from the Trek Concept Speed, which remains by far the best bike Crono/Triathlon on sale today.
