The new R5 it's similar to the new R5ca, with the latter one in a heavier version but economically less demanding, although the cost of frame kit is located in the high-end market. Moreover, while the frame is made of R5ca a limited number of copies (about 350 in 2011) R5 frame has no such limitation. The new frame is always made of carbon fiber monocoque high modulus and receives dall'R5ca many innovative features. The frame weighs about 800 grams and is one of the lightest production frame of great absolute. The series adopts new steering bearings to 1 inch and 3/8 and under 1 inch and 1/8 above. This solution reduces the frame weight and improves comfort and durability of the frame. The fork has straight legs and weighs about 330 grams. The bottom bracket uses the new Cervélo BBRight standard, similar to BB30, but more rigid and lightweight. It's perfectly compatible with the BB30 standard. The main frame tubes have a relatively low, especially in the rear with the characteristic tall thin tubes. In addition to the bike frame kit is assembled with the proposed Sram Red group worshiped for controls, brakes, gearbox, the derailleur, the sprocket and chain. The crank is Rotor 3D. The wheels are Zipp, while stem, handlebar and seatpost are 3T. The saddle Fi'zi:k. The cost of the frame kit is about 4500 Euro, a very high price which puts it among the most expensive model ever. The light weight and the technical solutions adopted in part justify the price, but it is true that in the end the overall performance are aligned with the best competitors that cost even less than 1000 Euro. A bike for any route, stiff and responsive, not very comfortable, but high performance general. The high price puts it out of a logical analysis of price/performance ratio, a good bike that you buy with your heart and not thinking that you could achieve the same performance and also save several hundred Euro.
