Bicycles2012 Cervélo: Cervélo S5 2012
Cervélo unveiled the new S5 model that will provide to the Team Garmin-Cervélo for Tour de France. The new frame highlights the profile and the study of aero tubes of the bike so much that 37 seconds are reported improvement on a 40km stretch of road, with the same watts developed by the athlete, a result which if true, would be very important. The new frame is a monocoque high modulus carbon fiber. The fork is a 3T Funda, while the headset remains 1 inch and 1/8. Very streamlined the front of the head tube. The down tube has been the subject of a careful aerodynamic study and joins the bottom bracket BBRight which ensures an increase in stiffness of 17% over the previous model S3. Very large area of the bottom bracket area and back of head tube. The top tube has the classic profile is flat and broad. The seat tube has a similar geometry to time trial bike, with the first curved part, follows the contours of the rear wheel and the second part straight, but with an aerodynamic profile. The seatpost is dedicated especially because it allows a double slide position of the saddle, so you can adjust the bike for Triathlon and Time Trial races. Another new rear triangle with a careful study of the aerodynamic tube. The bike will be offered as a kit with frame and Shimano Dura Ace Di2 group, Di2 Ultegra, Ultegra, SRAM Red. This are prices in the U.S.: • Shimano Dura-Ace Di2: $ 9.000 • SRAM Red: $ 7.500 • Ultegra Di2: $ 6.000 • Ultegra 6700: $ 4.800 • Frameset: $ 3.800
