A versatility and quality bike that does not go unnoticed

Cinelli Mystic Rats was presented last year and reconfirmed in 2010, after it has established itself as one of the most original fixed bike. For 2010, the original black version, that of our test, we are also having an all-white version with a different fold and a few different components, which do not alter the substance. The Mystic Rats is based on an aluminum frame with fork upright, also on aluminum steering set 1 inch and 1/8. The tubes are regular section, with a very classic design of the frame. Classic track from the rear dropouts. Interestingly, the rear, very compact, also has holes to insert a future port bundles. The wheels are Miche hubs with beautiful red and rims are in aluminum medium profile. The tires are Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick. The brakes and the levers are Tektro. The stem is Cinelli aluminum, as well as the handlebar, Pista model. Characteristic handlebar tape. The seatpost is always Cinelli aluminum and the saddle is still Cinelli. The crank is Miche, custom Bootleg, while there are always standard pedals. Bottle Cage missing, although there are holes for its adoption. The rear hub has the characteristic of the double attack of sprockets on the one hand the classical freewheel on the other fixed. In both cases the ratio is 42/16. Six sizes available: 47, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58. To the extent 52 has a weight detected with our instrumentation of 9.6 kg.
The road test
Like any Cinelli Mystic Rats, not just a bike, but a small work of art in which each element that composes it is designed to achieve stylistic perfection difficult to rediscover in other products. The rigidity of the frame and the rear makes the bike pretty responsive, compared to weight and technical facilities, excellent steering precision, with a good stability, but also entry of the corners fast. Modest comfort, due to type of saddle used and the aluminum frame, beautiful drive. The use and urban newspaper, however, is more than satisfactory and excellent, to that effect, the possibility of equipping the bike also carries a parcel due to the presence of special attacks, excellent in terms of the rigid forks straight, aesthetics and efficient staff. The ratio chosen, 42/16, enables agile ride in almost all conditions. We turn the wheel the bike with fixed wheel. All the positive characteristics of the frame remain unchanged in more than one can exploit the opportunity to have fun with the wheel fixed. In this case the use of brakes is also unnecessary, but can help beginners, especially on the descents. The acceleration is achieved with the fixed wheel and pedal frequencies that are typical reach of the track bike, with good behaviour of the medium. Obviously, beginners will do well to find a bike path or a busy road just to get familiar. We also tested, with satisfaction, as changing the saddle, with a normal race, and pedals, with the race, you can do some good workouts, perfect to finish athletic training. The transition from traditional to a bike wheel sets, does not require much time or special knowledge, this further enhances the versatility of use of this bike. His ideal destination, are certainly not the track competitions, but is a model that can be used daily as a commuter town, with great satisfaction, and as a normal bike outside, where you can turn into a fixed wheel bike for maximum enjoyment. Going little further, with two pedals and a good saddle fit becomes a perfect bike for training with the fixed wheel, and its versatility of use is then maximum. There seems to have specific defects, but a brake that could be more powerful, but perfectly suited to the kind of bike.
Price
The bike thing about 740 euros, while the kit frame (frame and fork) is approximately 425 Euro. Fair prices which must also take account of the name Cinelli. On market you can find different proposals at a lower price, but can not boast the name Cinelli, the same design features and quality components adopted for Mystic Rats.
