The new frame Colnago M10 derived from the previous CX-1, against which underwent a thorough review. New lamination of carbon has resulted in a lighter frame, close to 1000 grams, but also more rigid. New series of tapered steering, C-HS1 Colnago, bearing 1 inch and 1/2 below and 1 inch and 1/8 above. This series of steering Colnago, can be easily replaced in contrast to the traditional forced to replace the entire frame. New dedicated fork, which maintains the classic straight stems, just introduced by Colnago. New tubes of the frame, oversized and with the internal cable. It is implemented in order to stiffen the tube, a solution now widespread, but affects the weight of the tube. The new bottom bracket, oversized, more rigid and extended the previous one. Also renewed the rear, now more rigid and made of one piece. The frame is available in two versions, one for Shimano Di2 and one for the traditional groups. Eight measures, all with Colnago Sloping geometry. The bike being tested, did not have a standard assembly. We thus see a Campagnolo Centaur Carbon and stem and handlebar FSA aluminum. The seatpost is a classic Colnago carbon fiber, saddle Prologo, while the wheels are high-profile carbon. So assembled, the bike has a weight of 7.6 kg, without pedals.

The road test

It was an abnormal test, almost (almost no) Colnago did not like a direct comparison with competitors. It's useless to test a bike with the components below as it should be assembled of course, but this also leads to another consideration. The heavy weight that we found shows that it is useless to buy a wide range of frame and then assemble the components with mid-range. Weight does not include, however, also shows a certain heaviness of the frame, which is far away, even stated, those 800 grams, which are today the border of the frames of the highest range. Excellent as always, in Colnago, quality of paint. Fixed the classic frame geometry with a relaxed position correctly, but not excessively so. Despite the weight appreciates the excellent frame rigidity and responsiveness of the rear stay. If we are even slightly higher values to the old CX-1. The roads in perfect order did not allow us a thorough test, but the rear stay very hard (perfect performance) has not shown a great capacity to absorb vibration, with a very small comfort. Excellent handling with the rigid fork and set of steering, which provide quick, accurate entry of the corners, as well as rapid changes of direction. Excellent work of the bottom bracket. Again one can see a slight improvement of its rigidity, than the already excellent CX-1. A rigid frame so reactive that ensures a proper assembly, the supply of relief. Excellent driveability that pleases most sports athletes, and stability on the fast is good, at least when bottomed. A certain lightness of the front and the overall stiffness of the frame, is to assume a more critical behavior on the bumpy, especially at high speeds, where it will serve a better ability to control the bike. A guide, then, that requires some experience, but rewarding with excellent performance. The price of the kit frame should be around 3400 Euro. The bike is excellent, but does not differ for overall performance, even by many competitors that cost 1000 Euro less. The weight of the frame, then, remains high, at least for that price range. In conclusion a great bike, but that you can buy the brand Colnago undoubted charm, not to superior performance than the competition (which does not have), nor for the competitive price (which does not have). However a better and viable development of the CX-1, compared to which is superior in all respects.
