The new De Rosa R848 is the real novelty in 2011 by the Company founded by Ugo De Rosa. The frame is a monocoque carbon fiber. The series of steering features classic bearings to 1 inch and 1/8, with a short head tube and compact. Good-sized down tube, which presents a series of tapering to stiffen the structure and has a square section, like the tube, which has a slightly sloping. Sized area of the bottom bracket. The rear stay is compact, with narrow and high horizontal tubes near the bottom bracket and smaller section near the wheel. The seat stay tubes, however, have contained section and join immediately above the wheel to hold a rigid structure that joins the seat tube, hugging him, and joining the top tube, according to a now widespread, that provides excellent rigidity. The vertical pipe has a classic seatpost with a diameter of 31.6 mm. The fork, also made of carbon fiber, has legs straight and stiffened by a rib that follows the contour of the central stem. Is not declared the weight of the frame or fork. The bike is only available as a bike assembled in two different versions: Campagnolo Veloce or Shimano 105. In both cases, stem, handlebar and seatpost are FSA, while the group is used to complete with crank, rear and front derailleur, controls, brakes, sprocket and chain. Different, however, the wheel: Campagnolo Khamsin for the Veloce version and Fulcrum Racing 7 for version Shimano 105. So the bikes assembled at a cost of about Euro 2320 for Campagnolo Veloce and 2415 Euro for Shimano 105 version. This is an entry model very well made and cared for, as witnessed also the adoption of the groups to complete Shimano or Campagnolo. The weight, though not stated to be around 8.5 kg. The price remains higher than the average of its competitors. In this case, if the value for money can only be modest, the price/quality ratio is pretty good. Unlike its competitors, in fact, have not implemented the usual savings, as cranks or wheels and brakes extra group assembled by hand, this has an impact on the price list. The construction of the frame is higher than the category average. Given that the weight should be aligned to direct competition will certainly not be expected superior performance, proportionate to the highest purchase price. It is therefore a bike that is directed towards those who want a quality product and are willing to spend something more just to have a bike, not faster, but better assembled. A bike built to last, it will satisfy those who are not looking right in half extreme performance category, which does not look much to the weight of the bike and do not resell after a year, but will take with them a long time. In this case, the purchase may be more than recommended because it is a good quality bike, with a charm that derives its name from the noble and can not be missed. Going to benefits, however, knows that there are other better models in the catalog De Rosa, or the same budget, will do well to move towards other brands, that for the same price and with the right mix of components and materials can offer bike more competitive, though apparently poorer.
