FRW renewed its full FXC, with a new frame hydroformed aluminum 7005 triple butted. Geometries remain unchanged compared to the previous model, considered still valid and current. New line, slightly wave, the horizontal tube and the bars. It is remained unchanged triangle that compresses the shock rear suspension for using a rod that makes the progressive compression. The headstock has the classic pads 1 inch and 1/8, while the bottom bracket has standard BSA Classic. The rear shock is fixed to the vertical pipe that receives an appropriate reinforcement to withstand the stress of the shock itself and the rod which compresses it. This is well crafted and very relieved. The area of the head tube is well proportioned, with the union down tube horizontally in a single structure. The coloring is unique, white with blue livery. The bike is offered with the Shimano XT/SLX 10v. XT group is front and rear derailleur, SLX and the group are the commands, the crankset 24/32/42, the sprocket 11/34 and chain. The fork is Epicon Suntour 100mm travel and lockout with the handlebars, shock Epicon with lockout, brakes Hayes Stoker Trail, Fulcrum Red Metal 3 tires Geax Saguaro TNT 26/2.0. Stem, seatpost and handlebar is Ritchey Comp. Always Ritchey knobs, while the saddle is Selle Italia Nekkar. The pedals are also standard Shimano PDM 520, bottle cage and water bottle. So assembled, the bike weighs kg 13,00, as measured with our instrumentation.
The road test
The new FXC follows the aesthetics of the previous model, with a good overall quality. Good finishes, painting and assembly quality, fairly uniform in its quality. Riding attitude is raised and characterized by the maximum control. Excellent arrangement of controls and the grip knobs. Easily accessible lock shock and fork. Moving appreciates the excellent smoothness of the wheels and tires. In a very technical and easy path FXC Pro has put on display only qualities, difficult to talk about defects. Excellent compromise between stability and manageability, but we lacked a true high-speed test. The tires showed the side grip in cornering, but it would serve more km to fully understand their qualities. Rather than feeling good suspension adjustments. We considered strong, with good fluidity and can also absorb blows very hard. Excellent work of the rear suspension. Effectiveness of the lockout, with a minimum waste of energy transfers on asphalt. Excellent for power and scalability, the brakes, there is no verification of their resistance to fadding, but historically have critical points. Perfect function group XT/SLXr and gear ratios corrected. Good rigidity of the frame and bottom bracket, perfect control of the jump in half, at least those little that we could do. Good seat, but we would prefer the hole decompression of the perineum. Excellent overall comfort on any road. In general it seemed like a very good bike, perhaps, even certainly, not for competitive XC, but for amateur use and hiking, even if competitive competition aims to complete the race. With overall performance, except if you try the best performance. The price of 2020 I was, is competitive and commensurate with the quality of the medium.
