Giant completely renewed its range Anthem X and the version with carbon frame, is the most common version with an aluminum frame. The new aluminum frame is made of hydroformed tubes, new tapered series steering and new bottom bracket Press Fit. The new section of pipe with a sloping frame accentuated by the short head tube and the new rear suspension Maestro. This eliminates the influence of pedaling work on the suspension. The fork is a Fox F100RL, 100 mm of travel, and pin 15 mm; always Fox RP23 Boostvalve rear shock. The group has adopted the new Shimano XT 3x10, adopted in full, always Shimano XT wheels, complete with Schwalbe tires. Stem, seatpost and handlebar are Contact Giant the saddle is a Fizik Tundra V2 MG. The bike is available in 5 sizes in just white/blue. So assembled, the size M, has a weight of 12 kg, measured with our instrumentation and heavy pedals you see in the picture.
The road test
The new Giant Anthem X1 is very well done, as we all Giant products. Beautiful paint, bright, high-quality assembly, with the Shimano XT adopted in full, including disc brakes and wheels. Good choice of components also Fox. A bike of quality and substance. Riding ergonomics of controls is excellent, including the lockout fork, easy and intuitive to use. The new Shimano XT 3x10, previously described, a very good precision, fluidity, modulation of the brakes and excellent overall performance. Moving appreciates the excellent frame rigidity and compact soil and hard case with the effective blockade of the suspension, which makes the bike very fast and responsive. Awkward to reach, however, the rear shock block, a problem that there is no remedy having the rear suspension geometry and positioning of the shock. With a little practice and experience, the action is still more easy and natural. But with the suspension is free to work you better appreciate the features of this Anthem X1. Excellent precision steering, well seconded by fork that works best is hard copy and the ground well. Excellent work rear suspension that always collects the hardest blows well and not bother pedaling, Sharpening overall performance. Down behavior is excellent, for the accuracy of the frame and the work of the same suspensions that allow optimal control of the bike. Good also speed cornering, not fast but always precise and gradual. In genral the dynamic behavior is based on a good balance between stability and manageability with a small advantage on security and stability at high speeds. More than good behavior also uphill, where the rear wheel traction is always good and good is also the direction of the front wheel. Great comfort in all conditions, thanks to the work of suspensions. A bike that does not mind the difficult passages and competitions, but, above all, his great enthusiasm for the overall balance. It is at home everywhere, always allowing optimum performance and use, even competitive, to 360 degrees. The price is about 3200 Euros, a fair price considering the performance and overall quality of used components.
