BicyclesPro bikes: Tom Boonen’s Eddy Merckx EMX-7 Team Quick Step
Quick Step Team uses the Eddy Merckx bike; this season the new model EMX-7. Tom Boonen uses this model that has a high carbon frame with integrated seatpost and high modulus. New fork, head tube keeps the bearings from 1 inch and 1/2 below and 1 inch and 1/8 above. The oblique tube is of greater cross section and houses the internal cable. More compact and stiffer rear triangle. The vertical pipe section is larger and has a new aerodynamic profile. The tube has increased its cross section. The bike is then assembled by Tom with Campagnolo Record, with controls, brakes, cranks, chain, sprocket, front and rear derailleur. The wheels are Campagnolo Bora Ultra Two with tubular Vittoria. The pedals are Look Keo Carbon Blade. The seatpost is micro FSA, while the saddle is a Prologo Pro Scratch TR. The stems and handlebar FSA are always aluminum. I have Tacx bottle cage. A beautiful bike, at best, the UCI weight limit regulation, stiff and responsive, a big step forward compared to the previous EMX-5.
