The study of the suspension was very long, and has pledged Orbea for a long time. Important was the collaboration with the University of San Sebastian and the use of European Community funds for innovation in the product. The Faculty of Engineering, University of San Sebastian, has made a long study on the operation of the suspension, the first in the motorcycle sector, then in the bike industry, this is to understand the operation of the suspension, the various systems used and how they interact and interfere in the frame and dynamic behaviour of the bike during its use. They have compared all the systems currently in use by analyzing strengths and weaknesses. To achieve this goal has also created a special software called "Advanced Dinamycs" which allowed the computer to simulate the behaviour of various suspensions and how any changes could vary in the same operation and efficiency of the same. In addition to this, foundamentaly was the collaboration with Fox, who has participated significantly to the development of the suspension. Studies have shown that in fact a full harmonization of both the important features of the frame to the suspension characteristics to form a unique harmony of features and performance. It was designed so small a link, with a position parallel to the shock tube and through a greater progressivity. The aim was to achieve maximum comfort, safety and pedalling efficiency. The comfort was evaluated as the energy that comes from the pedal hits the ground, the lower the energy the greater the comfort. Safety was assessed as the time that the wheel remains in contact with the ground, the greater this time on a standard route, the greater driving safety and performance that you can get. The pedalling efficiency was assessed by analyzing the possible dispersion of energy caused by the work of pedalling the suspension. The tests in the laboratory, the computer and on the road leading to the establishment of a new suspension Orbea called Diamond Link.
