The new rear suspension for the Occam 2012 is characterized by a very small link, made of carbon fiber and alloy cold forged. The link creates a progression of the suspension divided into two parts, first part with a soft and sensitive to small bumps, to improve comfort and traction, while a second hardest part with a last part (the bottom 20% of suspension travel) which has a linear working, very hard to absorb the blows. The fulcrum of the suspension is placed just above the bottom bracket bearing axis and has a 15 millimeter and a length of 53 mm. The axis ring is closed with a cone, which when tightened suspension prevents lateral movement and a rotation axis within the bearing. This solution improves the lateral stiffness of the suspension, the performance of the suspension of pedaling efficiency, as well as improved reliability because it is the classic game that has eliminated other suspensions, both laterally and between shaft and bearings. All bearings are sealed and are free fiction treatment to be protected from dust, mud and water. The rear suspension is asymmetrical triangle with the bottom carbon fiber, while the upper part is made of aluminum. This choice was made for reasons of reliability. The installation of the brake Post Mount, it releases heat that is dissipated more from aluminium, while it is damaging to carbon fiber, also the weight difference is minimal and did not warrant a full carbon solution. Attention to the passage of the tube rear brake cable and rear derailleur. Both are external for easy maintenance, and their passage was designed to prevent movement of the suspension at work, both of which pass under the center of the suspension, the right of the rear derailleur cable on the left rear brake hose. The length of the chainstays fell three millimeters, and can be taken with both hubs X12 and 9QR axis, simply by replacing an adapter.
