Once defined the aesthetics of the frame Strooper, they proceeded to define the size of the pipes and various components. This important step was the help of the “Fast Prototyping” prototyping thermoplastic material to assess its real beauty and functionality. With this system they have analyzed all the practical aspects of the construction of the frame, as the passage of cables, the correct size of pipe and components. Orbea then proceeded to build the first prototypes to testing reliability. The bike so assembled was subject to many cycles of stress in the laboratory and after passing the various tests of reliability testing was carried out on the road. The long preliminary study and testing have allowed the computer to reach the final frame with only two prototypes unlike the usual four, with a considerable saving of time and money that have poured positively on the final cost of the bike. This led then to two frames, a carbon fiber monocoque, another aluminium hydroformed. The monocoque carbon frame is made of carbon Orbea Silver, slightly heavier model tha the Gold one, but with improved comfort. The headset is tapered, while in the classical model in aluminum. The travel of the fork is 120 or 140 mm, while the rear suspension has a travel of 123 mm. The carbon frame, including a shock absorber and rear suspension, has a weight of 2.2 kg in size M, while the aluminum version has a weight of 2.6 Kg in size M. Four sizes available. The passage of the derailleur cable is inside the frame, with a switching output, closed with a removable cap, which allows easy replacement of the cable. Even the tires are special. Have been developed in partnership with Hutchinson that has created a new version called Cobra 2.25 TL Race Ripost Compound.
