BicyclesPinarello Dogma 60.1
On the occasion of the last Tour of Burgos, Alejandro Valverde had the opportunity to test the new bike he will already use in the next Tour of Spain and which is the great novelty produced by manufacturer Pinarello: the Dogma 60.1. Dogma 60.1 is a bike which external asymmetry produces a perfect equilibrium and should mark a revolution in cycling world in 2010. Born from the large success of the Prince, which Alejandro used till now, its development reaches the limits of technology, with a series of innovations that involve a total change in thought in regards to the distribution of weight and force on the frame. Dogma is the first competition bike in the world to introduce the asymmetry concept, which addresses the need to balance the asymmetric forces that are diffused upon the entire frame, where the cassette cluster and the chain positioned on the right side create an unavoidable imbalance. In light of this situation, Dogma marks a total redistribution of equilibrium within the frame. Thanks to virtual situation, Pinarello technicians have re-equilibrated the bike via the frame thickness. The most noticeable modifications can be seen in the shape of the anterior fork (the right one being thicker and more angled), the top tube (« high » asymmetry on the inferior part of the inferior tube) and lastly the chain stay (the right side is thinner at the front end, near the bottom bracket and then larger towards the rear; conversely the left chain stay is reinforced at the front end, becoming thinner towards the rear). For the first time ever, Dogma uses the EPS system, (Expandable Polystyrene System), which reduces the risk of breakage of the frame. The increase in rigidity hence applies to the most critical points of the frame : the anterior area, delivering better control (fundamental for descents and nervous courses) and in the area around the bottom bracket leading to less force dispersion and better acceleration (along with better equilibrium when climbing).
