BicyclesNew Specialized S-Works Transition 2011
It’s a long time that is in use in Teams Astana and Saxo Bank, a bike other than the usual Specialized Transition time trial, everything is assumed that this is the new Transition 2011. It’s true that a similar pattern was seen already at the Tour last year, now seems to be time of debut. The new Transition is completely different in the design of the frame and the result of more careful aerodynamic study. They abandoned the curved shapes of the old model to achieve a straight profile. The fork keeps the stems straight, but leaves the aluminum dropouts to go to those in carbon, the new series of steering cone bearings and 1 inch and ½ and 1 inch and 1/8. All the new tube, now perfectly straight, flat and wide, goes much higher than the previous Transition. Better meet the head tube, always short, but larger. The down tube remains almost unchanged, but completely changes the rear. Now it is even more compact, more straight tubes and smaller diameter. Surely it is used a carbon fiber better and this has allowed the reduction of tube diameters. Completely different to the vertical tube, now has a more aerodynamic profile and straight. The bike of the two teams are almost identical, even at the level of components used. SRAM Red Group, with crankset Specialized, Zipp wheels, different saddles, Prologo for Saxo Bank and Selle Italia for Astana, and pedals, Speedplay for Saxo Bank and Look Astana. The new Transition appears to be a decided improvement over the old model. Soon we will discover if the Specialized will make available to all fans.
