Northwave Aerlite SBS: 8

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 8

Spiuk ZS31RC: 7.5

Comment: All the shoes are well made and the differences between the various models are really minimal. The three shoes are better met Sidi, Gaerne and Vittoria, from every point of view is off, to build quality from competitors. The less Gaerne is the fact that the landmarks of the cleats are not as well printed as the competitors, but are practical. The DMT is a surprise because equally well made and cared for, but not the bag for shoes and the upper is more rigid, the first three even touch some details are smaller than the first three. Ben made the Diadora, but here you get to see the difference between a product more or less traditional (first three) and a great series. In Diadora nothing wrong, but putting them next to the Sidi shoe design features a clear bottom. Same for the Mavic, which also have bag for shoes, and Northwave, the meter Spiuk are the easiest of the lot.

Weight (42)

DMT Radial: 10 - 260 grams

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 10 to 272 grams

Spiuk ZS31RC: 9.5 - 279 grams

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 9 - 300 grams

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Leather: 8.5 - 310 grams

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 8.5 - 315 grams

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 8 - 340 grams

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 7.5 - 359 grams

Comment: shoes from the smaller weight are the DMT, but Mavic has a low weight, even considering the pawl, Spiuk follows, however, by weight. Diadora good weight, while others have higher weights, near Vittoria, Sidi, Northwave and are spaced and Gaerne, the heaviest of the lot.

Positioning cleats

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 10

DMT Radial: 10

Spiuk ZS31RC: 10

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 9

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 9

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 8

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 7

Comment: the reference points for positioning of the cleat allows for easier installation and replacement of same, each company has its own "recipe" sometimes less effective at times. The most practical are those places because Diadora outside and very easily seen with any type of cleat, then comes Spiuk for the same reason and that DMT has firmly ingrained in detail a wide scale. Sidi also has several landmarks, all accurate, a few millimeters more to the outside and would be perfect, like Mavic and Northwave. Vittoria has some points well made but too spaced, accurate yes, but not very extensive, as Gaerne whose signs are thick, creating some confusion, with print and too rough inside the shoe to be used effectively.

Practicality

DMT Radial: 10

Spiuk ZS31RC: 10

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 9

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 8.5

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 8

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 7.5

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 7.5

Comment: the term convenience we have considered the ease of fitting, the closure of the shoe, of its openness and the ability to regulate in the same bike closure. In this comparison Spiuk and DMT were easily the better because the three straps are the most practical to use and regular cycling shoes and the fit of the two is perfect. Following that Vittoria has a good ratchet and a locking rotor truly practical and effective, with respect to open Northwave. Sidi is their neighbor, with a ratchet effective, but less practical than a wheel, then with a good ratchet Diadora cintini but less easy to maneuver. Mavic flaw in the fit, the other more difficult because of the shape of the tongue, while it is easy to end it. Gaerne has an easy fit, but closing and opening of the ratchet is less fluent straps two competitors and are easy to open and close but not stationary bike.

General comfort

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 10

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 10

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9

Spiuk ZS31RC: 9 -

DMT Radial: 9 -

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 8.5

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 8.5

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 8

Comment: With this review we evaluated the long-distance comfort, taking into account the ventilation of the shoe and the interior. The best from this point of view is the shoe Diadora, because it has a soft upper is well ventilated and not too tight you feel discomfort details. Vittoria is at the same level for the same reasons and Spiuk may suffer only when the strong shaking straps. Northwave follows with good ventilation and good general comfort. DMT also good for the proceedings but has a less effective ventilation Spiuk and an upper more rigid. Sidi and Gaerne are equal, have a very comfortable interior, soft uppers, but their systems to the long detention of the heel can cause discomfort, ventilation, and is well below its competitors. Mavic has an upper soft and well ventilated, but very thin and lightweight, so if you tighten the shoe the straps can annoy.

Ventilation

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 10

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 10

Spiuk ZS31RC: 10

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9.5

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 9.5

DMT Radial: 8.5

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 8.5

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 8

Comment: All the shoes are well ventilated, but the best are undoubtedly Diadora and Vittoria, followed by Spiuk, the only with dual sole, summer and winter, all soled shoes are ventilated. Northwave does not seem to take advantage of the sole has an upper ventilated but well drilled and ventilated. Then there Mavic, with an upper with several openings to facilitate ventilation and then DMT. Finally Gaerne and Sidi shoes which are the two upper thicker.

General containment of the foot

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 10

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 10

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9.5

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 9

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 8.5

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 8.5

Radial DMT: 8

Spiuk ZS31RC: 8

Comment: all the shoes keep firmly the feet, but the best are undoubtedly Gaerne and Sidi, followed at some distance from Northwave Mavic and Vittoria and very little before then Diadora, which has softer outsole and heel. DMT is followed with a good upper Spiuk and that is the shoe upper softer.

Containment of the heel

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 10

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 10 -

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 9

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 9 -

Diadora Speed Racer 2.0: 8.5

DMT Radial: 7.5

Spiuk ZS31RC: 7

Comment: this test is far exceeded all the shoes. Gaerne is the shoe that holds more firmly the heel followed by Sidi, the two systems that have special shoes for this. The two systems are equivalent in effect, but the Gaerne can better adapt to every shape of the heel, stabilizing it and having a better comfort over long distances. At a certain distance, and there Northwave Mavic, followed closely by Vittoria and then Diadora, DMT and before Spiuk, which are equivalent.

Stiffness of the sole

DMT Radial: 10

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 10

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate 10

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 10

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 10 -

Diadora Speed Racer 2.0: 9.5

Spiuk ZS31RC: 9.5

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 9.5

Comment: again all the shoes have good performances, however, are the strictest ones without ventilation holes on the sole. All the shoes are still a very stiff sole and able to meet each athlete.

Behaviour uphill

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate 10

DMT Radial: 10 -

Spiuk ZS31RC: 10 -

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 9

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 8.5

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 8.5

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 8

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 8

Comment: uphill need a lightweight shoe, well ventilated and retain good foot, the best in this test was the Mavic, the compromise between weight, ventilation and containment of the foot, followed by Spiuk and DMT shoes read more. This is followed, Vittoria, also with a good compromise between characteristics considered, Diadora and Sidi, that in this test fails to take advantage of very good containment of the foot. Breaking the two heavier shoes while having a good containment of the foot, especially Gaerne, affected by the high weight in compair with other shoes.

Behaviour in the plains

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 10

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 10

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9.5

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 9 +

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 9

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 8.5

Radial DMT: 8

Spiuk ZS31RC: 7.5

Comments: plain, we evaluated what are the shoes that allow for a longer ride, then the whole containment of the foot and the rigidity of the sole. At the top we Sidi and Gaerne because block well and have stiff soles that provide excellent power transmission, are the two best shoes where you can have a ride "round". Following Northwave, Mavic and Vittoria, with which you can feel some movement of the foot, then Diadora, which mantinene less firm heel and finally DMT and Spiuk whose three straps not stop the foot with a slight preference for DMT that has an upper more rigid.

Behaviour in the sprint

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate 10

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 10 -

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 10 -

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 9.5

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 9

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 9

Radial DMT: 8

Spiuk ZS31RC: 8

Comment: sprint is better than containment of the foot, lightness and rigidity of the shoe sole. The Mavic are those that best blend all these features, followed closely by Sidi, Gaerne and Northwave that even with weights and different characteristics are equivalent to the final sum of positive and negative. Followed by Vittoria and Diadora substantially equal, but detached from the first group. Finally Spiuk and DMT, which in this case, while taking advantage of low weight, have a containment of the foot bottom.

Value for money

Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 10 (239 Euros)

Vittoria Shoes Hora: 10 - (249)

Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 8.5 (310 Euro)

Spiuk ZS31RC: 7 (160 Euro)

DMT Radial: 7 (199 Euro)

Northwave Aerlite SBS: 6.5 (249)

Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 6 (255 Euro)

Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 6 (270 Euro)

Comment: all the shoes are priced higher, you can not then regardless of where production of the shoe. Gaerne, performance and overall quality of the product, competitively priced, as well as Vittoria, both of these shoes are made in Italy and can be considered the best value for money. Sidi, have a high price and only partly justified by the performance of the shoe. Less acceptable prices Diadora, Mavic and Northwave shoes, high performance, but given that countries are made by hand labor cost we should expect more competitive prices. Spiuk DMT and have a good price at all, proportional to the product quality.

Final Standings

1) Victoria Shoes Hora: 119.5 points

2) Sidi Ergo 2 Carbon Lite Paint: 119 points

3) Gaerne G. Myst Plus: 116.5 points

4) Mavic Zxellium Ultimate: 114.75 points

5) Northwave Aerlite SBS: 114.25 points

6) DMT Radial: 114 points

7) Diadora ProRacer 2.0: 113.5 points

8) Spiuk ZS31RC: 112.25 points

Comment: As one might imagine to take advantage in the final standings were the shoes that more than excel in one particular aspect never huge gaps highlighted by major competitors. Vittoria is globally the best of this comparison, followed by Sidi, virtually the same score and followed closely by Gaerne. Mavic Northwave and have almost the same score and it is not surprising because they often are the defects of the merits of the other and vice versa. Near to them for performance Diadora another model the behaviour very homogeneous and always high and DMT, which reaches a high score for good in many respects. Spiuk has paid the desire to create a shoe from the price is not excessive, with some characteristics that if they did excel in some aspects make it back in others. It 'clear that the final ranking might just tip over if we had not taken into account certain items which for many may be insignificant (see the weight, the positioning of the cleats or price) for a purchase right then, rather than consider final ranking, however valid and important, must be analyzed the individual aspects of each shoe, preferring that best suits our needs.
