A very technical sport eyewear designed to protect your eyes so full visibility while ensuring a high visibility

The Company

Adidas born on August 18th, 1949, founded by Adolf (ADI) Dassler (DAS). The early years concentrated on shoes for football, but the success of the products’ Dassler, allow Adidas to expand its activities in other sectors, which occurs during the 60s. In the Eighties, the death of Adolf come see inside the wife's, son and daughter, who continues the work of their father. Continues, thus, an expansion phase that leads the company to acquire new brands such as Salomon, then sold at a later time. In the meantime, new managers are selected to implement the expansion of Adidas, by acquiring Reebok and TaylorMade, now part of Adidas Group which is one of the world's largest producers of sports clothing.

The range Adidas

The range of eyewear Adidas is wide and designed for every sport, but all models are made with the same basic concepts. First quality lenses, for perfect visibility and resistance to breakage and scratches, and a total UV protection. Then the comfort, with a choice of two different sizes, the triple adjustable rods and double adjustment for hake, ending with the utmost attention to the protection of the eye. So the reliability and durability, with the tripping of auctions under strong pressure and flexibility of the materials used. Finally, a simple replacement of the lenses, a careful study on the control anti-fog lens, the possibility of adopting an insert for corrective lenses. The range, therefore, makes use of 11 types of lenses to a level of protection that goes from 0 to 4 with an absorption of light from 7% to 95%. Common to the entire range, then, a range of accessories, such as elastic band. The models designed specifically for cyclists (remember that many champions of the cycling road and mtb use Adidas sunglasses) are Evil Eye, Agilis and Burn, with the latter model designed for the DH. The model Elevation ClimaCool, belongs to the range, Elevation, designed for hiking in high mountains and in the presence of strong temperature ranges. A special eyewear for the special protection it offers can be used with excellent results even in cycling.

The eyewear on test: Elevation ClimaCool

Elevation range has three models: Elevation, the basic model, Elevation Pro, with sweat wipers, different lenses and an envelope full of accessories, Elevation ClimaCool, the top of the Elevation series. Already winner of several awards, such as ISPO OUTDOOR AWARD 2003, has, like the rest of the range Adidas, adjustable rods on three positions, hake adjustable to two positions, inserts inside the auction-slip material. Then the lenses have two special characteristics, a high protection to infrared rays and ultraviolet light (present to a greater extent at high altitudes), and a greater ability to counter the rapid change of vision (transition from light shade). These two technologies, called, respectively, Space and Light stabilizing Lens Technology, allow greater protection of the eye, its lower fatigue and greater visibility in the presence of strong contrasts of light or poor visibility. The lenses also have the treatment Anti-Fog, which eliminates, with the study of ventilation, fogging of glasses and the RX Ready particular treatment, treatment which enables optimal viewing even in subjects with visual defects, allowing all a clear and distortion-free vision. In addition, this model can be equipped for the addition ophthalmic correction of vision. The glasses are filled with the foam insert that completely surrounds the glasses completely isolating your eyes from the outside. In the box there is also the elastic band, two different pairs of lenses, a carry case, hard and soft. For this eyewear are available 6 different types of lenses. The eyewear is available in aluminium colour, dark brown, dark grey, black and shiny black/gold. They have a weight, detected with our instrumentation, of 29 grams.

The road test

The Adidas Elevation ClimaCool eyewear is a perfect creation, with a sample assembly and free of defects. His appearance is very specific, technical, and certainly does not pass unnoticed. Worn the comfort is excellent and the ability to adjust the hake and auctions allow everyone to find the right position. The interior of the auction-slip material, soft to the touch, improves comfort, but above all allows to remain very firm in his position. Thus, using the elastic band becomes almost superfluous, unless you use the glasses in extreme freeride. The visibility of the lens is excellent, as well as the visual field insured, really wide. Is should be stressed that each corner of the lens of the optical distortion is nothing and will ensure the visual contrast is perfect. On bike as that is the absolute protection that the eye remains protected like any other product. Even at high speed protection is total and this is a huge advantage that will appreciate those who adopt contact lenses or which are particularly sensitive to air and dust. The system also is very effective even in the rain, where the eye and the lens inside remain perfectly dry. The system of channeling inside the lens is designed so as not to annoy the eye and at the same time ensure that the lenses are not fog, what we have experienced a favorable long and difficult climbs, where despite the high perspiration, the low speed and high thermal excursion, the lenses never fogged. Even after several hours of use, the glasses are not from any discomfort. Excellent colour rendering of the slow and actually improving the effective capacity of contrast of colours and lights, especially in conditions of poor visibility. All these positive features are a real improvement aspect of comfort, an effective and complete protection of the eye and especially an improvement in the safety of driving, as are the more difficult environmental conditions, as in the rain, presence of strong wind, clouds dust and mist.

Conclusions

The Elevation ClimaCool sunglasses was not designed specifically for cyclists, but despite this it has been found excellent and can be a perfect choice for those who have eyes sensitive to the wind or dust. Indeed, one of the best features of this eyewear is its ability to completely isolate the eyes from external factors, so that even the most sensitive or who shall contact lenses will be perfectly at ease. Both in the rain at high speed in high winds, the eye is always protected, your lenses always dry and never tarnish, the always excellent visibility. This increase significantly the safety and ride comfort. Their aesthetic is unique and differs from the classic eyewear cycling, mainly to the sponge side, but this goes into the background compared to the benefits, undeniable, that this solution brings. In conclusion is a good pair of glasses, with a number of features that make it unique and which make it an excellent choice for those who are attentive to the safety of the eye, to comfort and have sensitive eyes.
