In exclusive preview we tried one of the first item of clothing of the new collections Moa Sport; technology, aesthetics and maximum performance for a new landmark in clothing on cyclists

The Company

After years in which Moa Sport, the company founded in 1970 by Vincenzo and Claudio Mantovani, has marketed its products under the brand Nalini, Moa has decided to present a comprehensive collection of clothing for cyclists with the brand Moa, already technical sponsor of important Pro Tour teams, like Columbia, Française des Jeux and Barloworld. Moa does not replaced Nalini, but is going to be a single brand and particularly in view of cycling. Fort one of the best designer sportswear, Carlo Mascitti, Moa has decided finally to release all the creativity of the "maestro" with an unique collection for design and technique. Not only look, in fact, but technically the highest value for clothing that set new goals of style and technology applied to clothing cyclists. A brand that meets sport and those who love sports and to distinguish which like details and fine things.

The range Moa

On its debut Moa spared no effort in managing to propose a comprehensive collections divided into the top line of high-end, basic line, sporting and urban style. For all the research of style, materials and details are at the highest levels. Advice to women, see the collection dedicated to you, is something never seen in the area. The two articles on test belong the new collection autumn-winter 2008.

The jacket and pants we tried

The full winter brought by Moa is composed of overalls and jacket. Both have used different types of tissue, designed and manufactured in Moa, by denomination of the product and its best feature. This is a product of 100% "Made in Italiy" both as regards the seams that for fabrics used. The pants has the back Nalini UCN (Ultra Confort Nalini). Is an anatomical back pad whose surface is made with a microfiber that even seem like suede holds on equal volume, greater amounts of fiber making it more soft, flexible and resilient than the natural skin. This allows greater breathability and reduces the risk of skin irritation. The pants are long and projected silicone’s inserted on the bottom leg as well as the zip for easy fit. The back is completely covered by the support of brace, while the anterior is opening wider to facilitate the wearability. The fabric base is the "Bilbao Interpower" which alternates inserts on the thighs and knees in Termosport (a fabric designed by Nalini) membrane Mantovent. Internally, also, we find a pile heat and breathable. There is the possibility to have them in sizes S to XXXL only in black. The jacket is made in thermal breathable Mantotex. Backstroke and under-sleeve Interpower in Bilbao. Everything inside is in thermal pile and breathable. It has long zip with anti wind flap and is fitted with elastic inclusion on the sides and arms as well as the particular working honeycomb fabric outer which facilitates transpiration. The three rear pockets have a flap closing and have no elastic. It is present a pocket on the left side with a hole for passage of the earphones of Mp3 cable or radio. Also for better passage of the earphone cable on the shoulder there is a circle move the cable to better position. Reflective bands are both on the jacket that on the overalls. The jacket is available in black and white, there is the possibility to have it in sizes ranging from S to XXXL. In the size L we have noted the following weights: pants 381 Grams, jacket 497 grams.

The road test

The new Moa complete surprise now to the quality of fabrics, brilliant and unique and special. One might also point out that this suit is very classical in style and can be distinguished from other leaders in circulation only for the high quality of the product. In Moa Sport collection, however, there are other articles introducing a fresh style industry cycle and that will immediately distinguish from the rest of the competitors. All seams, realized with three needles in contrast, are perfect, both outside and inside of the item with a perfect cure at the end of the seams where the yarns are perfectly stopped. The many pieces that make up the pants testify the careful study that was done to create a perfect item, with the parties in pile on areas most exposed to cold leaving more free zones in other elastic tissue. Very cured the zip, with Moa’s logo, as the silicone on the bottom of trousers or reflective sides for greater visibility passive. The fit is excellent. The jacket based on the quality of shares in overalls with elastic fabric and a warm coat pile. The neck top, the elastic at the bottom of life and anti flap hinge on the wind to help seal and prevent the dispersion of body heat. Excellent even in this case the seams and all the trimmings, like the fit. Wore the item is appreciated the softness of fabric and perfect ergonomics cutting that leads to wrap the body like a glove. The pocket for the radio is also useful as keys rings, while the inner passage of the headset cable is perfect for those who use Mp3. Even the rear pockets are easy to reach, but with winter gloves is not immediate to peak up the flap closing and put his hand into pocket. In saddle is appreciated even more cutting anatomical both of them, with particular reference to overalls, really good. In fact there is no compulsion in the slightest movement and the pedal is smooth and effective as ever. The distribution on the legs of different types of material perfect setting body temperature and perspiration effective. The back pad UCN is really excellent, with a reduced footprint and a very high comfort even after many hours on the saddle. The elastic and zip on the bottom leg does not give the slightest discomfort and allow the shirt to stay firmly in place. The jacket collects the same consensus of overalls. Remains close to body, like the pants does not move with the movement. The neck top, the elastic cuffs and elastic on waist well close the body by allowing a good microclimate. The breathability is excellent, with an effective evaporation of sweat body. This in fact may be the only defect of the item. Indeed, in the presence of long descents there is a clear reduction of body temperature because of the rapid evaporation of sweat, helped by higher velocity. If there are long stretches of downhill descents, therefore, is preferable to wear the classic cape which will be easily placed in one of three back pockets. When the descent is short annoyance is easy to support, compared to the benefits that are obtained in all other conditions. Indeed, the excellent breathability of the item allows the body to stay dry and warm, giving the opportunity to concentrate down best on training. For the legs, however, the problems does not sussist, evidently for the absence of tissue honeycomb. Up to temperatures close to 10 degrees there is no need to wear thermal underwear, at least for the less cold, becomes more than necessary. In mtb the conduct of the item remains excellent, especially the back, confirming its good qualities, but we found some difficulties in cleaning up the mud from jacket, even if the model in pure white colour is not ideal for use in mtb.

Conclusions

This item Moa has been shown to really assert not only from an aesthetic point of view but also for its functionality and quality, the most important aspects. It is finished with great care and made with materials of high quality, all produced in Italy, and it shows. The wearability and efficient breathability of the fabric used is the top absolute as well as the quality of the back, excellent. The general features, from zip to back pockets, is perfect, as well as the ability to protect from the cold, especially for the overalls. For jacket, however, with lower temperatures will be convenient to use a good thermal underwear. The same jacket also be accompanied with a cape in the long descents, where its high breathability leads to a rapid cooling of the body. In conclusion, however, an exceptional item in quality and effectiveness.
