A complete with perfect look, classic and perfect finish, ideal for the bad season

The Company

We have already spoken of Maglificio Sports Santini during the tes of full summer Kill, which refer readers who want to deeper their knowledge of the Company to that item. Here we confirm that for 2009 the company presented a new collections Spring / Summer and Fall / Winter. Alongside these two was confirmed Collections range 365, namely a broad catalogue of apparel and accessories that cover all needs of a cyclist used for all 365 days of the year; then complete by summer and more breathable than winter, windshields and rain.

The Range Fall / Winter 2009

The new range "Winter 2009" is divided into collections Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Wind, Light, Moon and Sun. All collections are accumunate, although in different graphics, by look the same, sporty, but elegant and classic. Each collection also stands out for the materials used for different back and cut the item, which may be more or fewer members, complied for women or for men. The different materials used resulted in the creation of a range that covers all the winter weather, climate milder, more than drive. The Terra collection consists of three items: a jacket, a mesh heavy long sleeves and tights. Among the leaders of the Winter collections 2009 tights collections of the Earth are those who, perhaps, better suited to harsh climates.

Jacket Earth (FW50775TERRAWSPB exact name) is made of woven fabric Windstopper fabric with elastic inserts on the arms. The Windstopper is a fabric W.L. Gore ensuring a good breathability combined with a high protection from wind, water and snow. This allows proper evaporation of sweat and body to prevent the wind through the fabric, cool the body. This will create an optimal microclimate, technically the fabric is formed by three different layers, including outer and intermediate ensure the permeability steaming body and waterproof outer wind, water and snow, the internal, however, ensures comfort heat thanks to its soft constitution. The neck is high and together with cuffs is coated in termofelpa internally, to improve comfort. The zip front is long and fitted with anti flap coverage for wind and prevent the trash overalls with friction. The elastic waist is high, but no board in silicon. The passive visibility is assured by inclusion reflective on the back. There is, then, a single back pocket fitted with zipper and another one is planned on the chest. The size L has a weight of grams 462 . It is available in blue, orange (the test model) and black; sizes are provided from XS to 4XL.
The overalls:

The overalls Terra (exact name sp1180gitwindwspb, also in the collection 365, with two different back pad) is always carried out with Windstopper in frontal areas, those most exposed to air, and Super Roubaix fabric areas rear. This is a very elastic fabric and still breathable, soft and comfortable. Again, the passive visibility is provided by inserts in refractive material. It has a zip ankle. The upper part consists in a tight, always Windstopper, with zip. The back pad is the model Gel Intech, the classic case back with input Ingel Santini who was the first to use the silicon gel in the back pad. In the size L we have detected a weight 417 grams. Available only in black is expected in sizes from XS to 4XL.

Gloves:

Gloves are model SP593WS belonging to the line 365, specific for more rigid temperature. It is a winter glove breathable, windshields and slightly rain, all thanks to the Windstopper fabric. The palm of the hand is covered with anti slip material and anti-abrasive, is also a side zip for easy fit. Also present, then, the refractive pigtail to improve the wearability. In size XL have a weight of 75 grams (the couple). Availables in sizes from XS to 3XL.
The covers:

The covers are the model SP577WS, even those belonging to the line 365. Even these are Windstopper fabric, which makes the product breathable and windshields in addition to Rain (though not completely, given the holes and seams). They are fitted with zip back for a better use and classical openings and heel cleats. Available only in black have a weight in L size of 101 grams. They are available in sizes from S to 3XL.

The road test

All the complete Santini is fully realized, as tradition of the enterprise, with quality materials. The look is classic, moderately sports, not flashy or eye, thanks to sober colours and colour combinations are not hazardous. The overalls are wearing well thanks to front zip that greatly facilitates the habit. Lacks the silicon at the bottom of the trousers, but the zip and elastic tissue prevent any unwanted movement of the item. The fabric, soft inside, did nothing but increase the feeling of comfort. The jacket follows the same positive sensation of tights, soft and comfortable, both externally and internally, it wears with ease, and closed the zip through the neck upper, it was completely "isolated" from the outside. Again missing the silicon, but if the item is the right we have noticed that extent is no problems and there is a risk that the jacket dates on the back, something which can happen if the item is somewhat bigger than the amount owed. The input agree elasticised arms on the item permit to stay close to your body. The chest pocket is useful for storing documents or the car keys back to everything else, also if lacking a pocket without a zip; solution absent on this model, but present on others. The covers, thanks to their zip and elastic tissue are easy to use, but must be chosen the appropriate size to prevent the opening for cleats is too small. With Look cleats may be difficult to lock the pedal for the interference of fabric with cleats. It should be an appropriate choice to your shoe and you should have a minimum of patience to wear properly, so as to have no problems whatsoever. With less bulky cleats, however, the problems there is the slightest. The gloves have the same warm and soft inside like the rest, also associated mainly from the same cloth: the Windistopper. The zip to the side of the glove facilitates use. In saddle first shows the usual comforts of back Santini Gel Intech: excellent in every respect. Cluttered little, but allows each to better absorb vibration, absorbs sweat well and avoids sore the buttock after hours sitting on very hard saddle. The elasticity of the fabric of the tights, then, allows a smooth ride, without any constraint, with nearly as simple short. The fabric, then, though not often perfectly isolated by the wind and cold (we tried the item with temperatures close to zero degrees), also has a good breathability. Even in long and quick descent, does not feel cold ever, as has sweats uphill, in these respects one of the best item-up. The ulterior bib also helps maintain even more isolated the bust, especially at high speeds. The jacket characteristics of insulation and breathability quite similar, maybe there are more breathable heads, but here's a perfect balance with the need to prevent the wind in the downhill and cool too quickly the body. Aided by taight, in fact, even with more stringent climate and high speed highways will hear a certain decrease in body temperature only on arms, while the rest of the body remains hot. An almost perfect and difficult to improve considering the need to have a good sweat. The pockets of jacket are useful, but the back is not comfortable using the zip view, which will maneuveur with ease even with gloves, but those who prefer greater speed and ease of use, find other items of the collection more choices appropriate. Even gloves are great for thermal insulation, breathability and ease of use. The palm-slip material is perfect even if it would have been even better gel as the summer gloves so as to further improve comfort. Being long allows a perfect overlap with the sleeves of jacket, contributing to improved thermal insulation. Then we come to the covers, spoke of their used, for the rest of the reviews remain positive for breathability and insulation that have enabled us to ride in total comfort despite the cold climate and use of summer socks and shoes, very difficult to do better.

Conclusions

In the end we have sung the praises of a comprehensive position is the top industry winter. The classic look, perhaps, not be aggressiv young, but it is an item made for long life, even from an aesthetic point of view. The materials used, first quality, have enabled excellent performance for what concerns the breathability, the thermal insulation and water, resistance to the air. The improvements are always possible, obviously, but the balance achieved by these item is significant and with a good thermal underwear even the most cold, or those who live in areas with harsh climates, will ride with complete satisfaction and a beautiful warmth bodyweight. The defects we have noted are totally marginal and not affecting the quality of complete, at present among the best ever.
