We compared the full range of base and top Santini: differences here
View the availability, we wanted to compare two models of the same company, a high-end, the other low-range, to see what differences there are and if greater, the higher the product quality. Unfortunately you can not generalize because the business logic and scope vary from company to company, but it is useful to observe two complete understanding of what the price so different, understanding what changes to suit your needs and select the most suitable, is said to be the most expensive.
These detailled articles of the two considered complete:
On test: Santini Pride and Primo (Santini basic model collection)
On test: Santini Sunrise (Santini top model collection)
The road test
The two suits are very similar in the attention to detail. The quality is both. The seams are perfect and an example for other competitors. Although the solutions are similar and that do not create a gap between the two suits. Same solution of the three rear pockets and pockets on overalls. Submit silicone inserts and parts in reflective material to enhance visibility passive. From here the comparison ends at par. Excellent for both fit. The differences come in tissues and caps used. The basic model is made of a breathable fabric Micron and Newport, the latter used for bib, while the full range top using fabric Carbonx. The Coolmax pad of the basic model is replaced by Anatomic Gel Intech pad in the top range model. These choices also affect different weights, though not so obvious. The top range weighs little more, even with a pad more often, 352 grams, shirt and bib, compared to 346 grams. This is due to its tissue Carbonx lighter than other products, although the difference is as clear is really negligible. The difference in the basin can be clearly seen with the gel model more comfortable, both on long-distance saddles very lightweight and stiff. The caps Coolmax, however, remains comfortable with only the good imbottiura saddles, which goes perfectly and allows, however, long runs. In contrast with minimal saddles offer soon the side criticized for its small thickness. Another key element is the fabric to breathe, with Carbonx establishing a reference point for transpiration capacity and ability to convey the sweat out of the body. The basic model is more than good as long as the temperature exceeds 35 degrees centigrade, then the difference with the Sunrise model becomes more evident. You sweat more and lodges you more, but it should be noted that the mesh Pride is higher than many competitors. The price difference between the two is quite marked complete: 116 against 181 Euro. A difference absolutely justified by the different services. But if you train in the hottest hours, if not held fast pace or do not ride on saddles rigid, then the basic model (Primo and Pride) is even cheaper than equally effective. Only in extreme conditions (temperature, sweat, hours of training, etc.), indeed, the Sunrise model turns out to be really superior and able to give the athlete a technical advantage. All this does not overlook the fact that you can buy the most expensive model just for the pleasure of wear high range. A margin is worth mentioning how the complete although has made in Italy prices very competitive against other brands that carry their products in Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia or North Africa. One element that should make us think in many, along with the consideration that the model Primo and Pride is superior to other complete, in many cases more expensive.
