Today, the 2011 edition of the Italian stage race, Tirreno.Adriatico was kicked off with one of the toughest disciplines in the world of cycling, the team time trial. Saxo Bank-SunGard's delegation consisting of Baden Cooke, Michael Mørkøv, Kasper Klostergaard, David Tanner, Nick Nyuens, Juan José Haedo, Gustav Larsson and Matteo Tosatto stormed through the 16.8 kilometer long course in 18 minutes and 19 seconds which took the Danish team to fourth place.

A result teamowner, Bjarne Riis was very happy with:

"I'm really proud of the effort the riders did today. It was a very impressive result considering the fact that Gustav Larsson was feeling sick and wasn't able to pull as much he usually does and we were up against our strongest opponents and specialists. We came very close to second place and I truly believe that we could have won if Gustav was feeling well."

"This is another proof that our training session on Mallorca is bearing fruit and our work with the time trial bikes makes a difference. I'm really happy to see that the guys were so disciplined and everyone is so motivated."
