The second and 202 kilometer long stage of Tirreno-Adriatico ended up in a sprinter showdown where Saxo Bank-SunGard's Juan Jose Haedo demonstrated his qualities by finishing third:

"Our riders did a great finale where Gustav (Larsson) and Michael (Mørkøv) were allowed to drift back while the other guys managed to put JJ in a favorable position for the sprint. Even though he lost a little bit of distance, he managed to finish third but tomorrow we will get another shot. We're trying to protect Gustav as much as possible before the time trial," says Saxo Bank-SunGard's sports director, Tristan Hoffman.
