HTC-Highroad aims to continue winning streak in Italian World Cup Round

The HTC-Highroad women's team has already racked up 14 wins this season and they will be aiming for yet more success in the Trofeo Alfredo Binda race in Italy this Sunday.

"We've never won this race, so that's always a little bit extra motivation, plus it's the first round of the World Cup, so there are lots of reasons why we'll be trying very hard this weekend," comments HTC-Highroad team manager Ronny Lauke.

"This is being a very good year for us, we've done well in every race we've been in, so I'm confident we'll keep that winning streak going over here in Europe, too."

"Evelyn already won a race in Germany last week, the Koeln-Shuld-Frechen, which is a good sign for her."

With four laps of a hilly circuit as the main challenge of the 121 kilometer race on Sunday, Lauke says the main pack shrinks fast every time they tackle the main climb.

"Normally the climb cuts down the peloton and you just end up with a few riders left on the front who fight it out for the win. If the weather's bad, which it easily can be at this time of year, it speeds up that process."

"But we've got a good mix of sprinters and breakaway specialists in our line-up, so we're prepared for any sort of outcome."

HTC-Highroad for Trofeo Alfredo Binda: Judith Arndt (Ger); Emilia Fahlin (Swe); Evelyn Stevens (USA); Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (Ger), Adrie Visser (Hol).
