CompetitionsColavita/Forno D’Asolo Women’s Pro Cycling Team Brings Roster of Champions to Tour of Somerville
World Road Champion Giorgia Bronzini will make her debut at the Tour of Somerville on May 30th with the US squad of the Colavita/Forno D’Asolo Pro Cycling Team. Directeur Sportif Rachel Heal made the announcement. "Even though the women’s race is no longer on the NRC calendar, the Tour of Somerville remains a special event for us," said Heal. “New Jersey is home base for our long-time title sponsor Colavita and it means a lot to all of the riders and staff to know that representatives are on the sidelines cheering us on." "This year," Heal continued, "We are particularly excited because our roster will include Theresa Cliff-Ryan, two-time winner of the Tour of Somerville, as well as Giorgia Bronzini, the reigning World Road Champion." Joining Bronzini and Cliff-Ryan at the Somerville starting line will be 2010 NRC Champion Cath Cheatley, Rushlee Buchanan, Barbara Guarischi, and Modesta Vzesniauskaite. The Colavita/Forno D’Asolo Women’s Pro Cycling Team currently leads USA Cycling’s NRC team standings by a wide margin. Since the start of the 2011 season, the team has captured close to 20 victories and more than 15 podium finishes. At last week’s Grand Prix de Gatineau in Canada, Bronzini and Cliff-Ryan proved a formidable pairing, finishing first and third, respectively, in the UCI-ranked road race. After the Tour of Somerville, Colavita/Forno D’Asolo will head to Philadelphia where Bronzini will make her debut at the TD Bank Philadelphia International Championship Women’s Liberty Classic on June 5th. Cliff-Ryan, who finished third last year, is also a favorite in the event, one of the most prestigious in women’s cycling.
