Cycling Pro Road & MtbTeam Quick Step to Tour Down Under
Once again this year the Team QUICK STEP kicks off the season with the first competition in Australia. The athletes, lead by sporting director Rik Van Slycke, will arrive in Australia today and they will be taking part in the Tour Down Under from 18th until 23rd January. The team line-up is made-up of young athletes ready for the attack. For the sprints we have 2 really fast men and new arrivals in the team, the German Gerald Cioek and the Italian Francesco Chicchi. With them is the young Belgian rider Julien Vermote, important Dutch team player Addy Engels and the Italians Francesco Reda, Marco Bandiera and Davide Malacarne who will be looking forward to a good start to the 2011. Chicchi has already been part of the Team QUICK STEP whereas Bandiera, Ciolek and Vermote will be making their debuts wearing the QUICK STEP jersey at the Tour Down Under. "The Tour Down Under – explains the team’s sporting director Rik Van Slycke – is an important race for us. We have a young and very competitive team lined-up for the race including athletes able to show what they are made of both in the sprints and breakaway actions. Racing here in Australia is great. We will enjoy the nice weather and high temperatures which will further help to improve the physical conditions of our team members ready for the following upcoming races of the season."
