Cycling Pro Road & MtbGB announces team for UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics in Beijing
British Cycling has announced the team of eleven riders who will travel to Beijing for the third round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics, taking place from the 21 – 23 January 2011. Great Britain will be represented by a squad of riders selected predominantly from the Olympic Academy Programme, with youngsters Sam Harrison, Simon Yates and Phillip Hindes all making their World Cup debut at this event. Performance Manager Shane Sutton said: “The Track World Cup in Beijing is a great opportunity for the young squad to gain experience at World Cup level against World class competition. Our Podium riders competed in the first two rounds of the World Cup Series and are now focused on preparations for the final round of the World Cup series held at our home Velodrome in Manchester where we’re planning on fielding a full-strength squad.” The UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester will take place from 18-20 February at the Manchester Velodrome. All seats are now sold out for the event but standing tickets are still available.
