Team Quick Step-All set for the Tour of Oman

Starting tomorrow, February 15th, the Tour of Oman will be off and rolling. After having participated in the tour of Qatar last week, Boonen and co. have been in Muscat, the state capital, since Saturday.

"In Qatar - explains Wilfried Peeters - we rode as major players, and Boonen captured a nice stage win. Unfortunately, we also had some setbacks. In fact, Tom got a flat in a decisive moment during the third stage, and he wasn’t able to fight for the GC. This is just stuff that happens during a race. However, in the following days we fought a good battle. Tom closed the 4th stage in third place and in the last stage Francesco Chicchi barely missed out on a win to finish second. The bottom line in our Qatar initiative remains positive."

Team QUICK STEP is now looking forward to Oman, where last year Tom Boonen grabbed an excellent stage success.

In the 6 stages that will make up a total of 838.5 kilometres, the team will be doing its best to grab another success.

"The guys are in great shape - explains Peeters - We’ve set up a team that’s ready to compete during sprints with Boonen, Chicchi, Maes, Stauff, Steegmans and Van Impe, as well as two athletes that are liable to standout during the steeper stages, Dries Devenyns and Marc De Maar. It’s going to be a gruelling 6 days but the team is certainly up to the challenge."
