Alexander Kristoff will be the BMC Racing Team's protected leader for Wednesday's edition of Scheldeprijs, the unofficial "world championship of sprinting."

Strong and Confident

Last year, Kristoff was 10th here. "I've been training well the past month but when I came to Belgium, I got sick," he said. "So the first days of De Panne were hard. But the last day, I felt strong and finished fifth, so it gives me confidence." BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said riders like George Hincapie, Manuel Quinziato and Michael Schär will use the 200-kilometer race as training for Sunday's Paris-Roubaix.
