Cycling Pro Road & MtbCycling Pro: Alberto Contador and Richie Porte Looking Forward
After yesterday's great Saxo Bank-SunGard triumph, the 167 kilometer fifth and final stage of Vuelta a Castilla y Leon ended in a bunch sprint just as expected. Here, Ben Swift (Sky) showed great form and took a beautiful win in front of Francisco Ventoso (Movistar) and Ruben Moreno (Euskatel-Euskadi). Saxo Bank-SunGard Aussie, Richie Porte is now looking forward to the next season goal: "The time trial yesterday convinced me that the shape is getting there and I'm truly looking forward to use it and hopefully I'll be able to achieve my first season win before long. In Tour of Romandie where I won my first pro win last year, I'll probably get the chance to do the GC and I'm feeling better than last year. But there's a lot of powerful riders out there and I have to be patient and have the luck needed as well," said Saxo Bank-SunGard's Richie Porte after the stage. And teammate, Alberto Contador is also looking ahead: "I'll try to recover as soon as possible of my cold but I think I've not enough time for being fine for Fleche Wallonne but at least I'll try to help my teammates," said Saxobank-SunGard's Alberto Contador and added: "The Vuelta a Castilla y Leon has been a good race but I had no luck with punctures on the mountain stage. Despite that, I finish the race with a good feeling because I got the victory on the time trial which was one of major tests". Xavier Tondo (Movistar) won the race overall.
