Triathlon: Aaron Harris on the podium in Spain

 

Aaron Harris celebrated his overall victory in the British Triathlon Super Series with a podium finish at the 2011 Banyoles ITU Triathlon Premium European Cup in Spain.

Aaron finished in third place in a time of 01:47.07, beating Spanish athlete, Jose Miguel Perez by just one second in a sprint finish to the line.

Only three seconds behind Perez was fellow British athlete, Tom Bishop. Tom finished in 01:47.11, placing him in fifth position with Todd Leckie 26-seconds further back in sixth place and a finishing time of 01:47.37.

Matt Gunby finished 31st with a time of 01:50.30, despite a gutsy run on the final leg.

It was world number one, Javier Gomez who finished first as he prepared for the 2011 Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship London presented by Tata Steel on 7 August. Gomez finished in 01:45.49, with Etienne Diemunsch from France in second 01:46.28.

In the women’s race, Kerry Lang delivered a top ten performance, finishing eighth in 02:00.26, our other British female Hollie Avil did not finish.

Felicity Sheedy-Ryan from Australia won the event in 01:58.11, with Irina Abysova of Russia in second with 01:58.52 and Radka Vodickova from the Czech Republic in third with 01:59.14.
