Cycling Pro Road & Mtb

Largest Estonian triathlon event TriStar Estonia starts tomorrow

"This is probably the largest triathlon event ever held in Estonia, over 500 athletes are competing in the 111-kilometer event. Several internationally known professionals will be taking on the challenge, such as the swissman Olivier Marceau, dane Esben Hovgaard, german Thomas Hellriegel and Nicholas Peter Ward Muñoz from Spain. Representing Estonia, there are Kirill Kochagarov, winner of Ironman Florida, winner of MTB Marathon Europe Allan Oras and cyclist Jaan Kirsipuu. Amongst foreign competitors, there has been an especially large interest from East Europe and Russia," said Ain-Alar Juhanson, head of TriStar Estonia. “The beautiful and unique dome-hilled Southern Estonian terrain provides an exciting challenge for the athletes and a great opportunity to experience competition for the spectators," added Juhanson.

The festival begins on Friday with charity race StarRun5. On Saturday, the 11,1-kilometer children’s and 33,3-kilometer amateurs events will be held. The main focus of the triathlon festival is on Sunday, when the 111-kilometer main event takes place.

All events take place in and around Pühajärve. During the festival, a stage and expo area has been set up at Pühajärve park, where spectators can watch the event. The festival is free of charge for spectators.

TriStar Estonia will keep a joint scorecard with 5th SEB Tartu Skating Marathon – the times of competitors in the triathlon will be added to their skating marathon results and the winners will be given out prizes.

The TriStar label is owned by Star Production SARL, a Monaco based company specialized in organising high quality sports events that are focused on fun, social responsibility and environmental protection. The TriStar Series has introduced new distances to the sport of triathlon (A/N: 111km and 222km).
