Cervélo TestTeam race preview

The men are moving this week to northern Europe – to the Post Tour of Denmark while the women will be competing at the Valkenburg Hills Classic and the La Route de France.

Men’s Team

The biggest sporting event on the Danish soil, the 20th edition of the Post Tour of Denmark will kick off this year on August 4 in Holstebor concluding after six stages with five laps on the course of the 2011 Road Race World Championship in Copenhagen. The final sprint will take place at the top of Geels Bakke (Geels Hill). All six stages are quite flat but still challenging due to the wind conditions as well some short but tough climbs on the course.

A strong Cervélo TestTeam will be led by Roger Hammond (GBR), who took third place at the Post Tour of Denmark. There will also be a new name among the eight Cervélo TestTeam riders: The 2009 Swedish time trial champion Alexander Wetterhall will tackle the challenge of the Tour as a stagiaire for the team.

Women’s Team

For the women, from August 8 to 14, the la Route de France is on the schedule. Cervélo TestTeam will ride a prologue and six stages across France from west to east. The team is poised for a strong performance and will also use the race as preparation for the World Championships.

Another group of the women’s team will ride this weekend at the Valkenburg Hills Classic, which is a part of the Holland Ladies Tour series. On August 8 the race will take part in the Valkenburg region and includes the famous Cauberg where the Amstel Gold Race finishes.
