HTC-Columbia's Martin wins bronze at World Championships TT

HTC-Columbia's Tony Martin finished third, claiming the bronze medal in the men's World Championships Time Trial in Australia on Thursday.

The 25 year-old German finished 1:12 behind winner Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland and was just ten seconds behind silver medal winner David Millar of Great Britain. In a strong showing by the HTC-Columbia riders, Australia's Michael Rogers finished fifth after leading the standings for much of the race, while 2008 world champion Bert Grabsch of Germany was eleventh.

The USA's Tejay Van Garderen was 24th and Kanstantin Sivtsov from Belarus was 30th. Martin Velits of Slovakia was 27th and his twin brother Peter finished 32nd.

On Wednesday HTC-Columbia's Judith Arndt and Linda Villumsen finished second and third in the women's time trial, confirming the HTC-Columbia team's aptitude for racing against the clock. The women will take part in their road race event on Saturday, while the men will compete on Sunday.
