Cycling Pro Road & MtbTX Active-Bianchi sign Italian MTB hope Gerhard Kerschbaumer
19 year-old Gerhard Kerschbaumer will ride a Bianchi bike in 2011 as he has signed a two-year deal with Felice Gimondi’s TX Active-Bianchi team. Italian MTB hope Kerschbaumer stole the show in 2009 by taking an outstanding win at the Junior XCO World Championship in Canberra (Aus), ahead of Portugal’s Ricardo Marinheiro who joined the TX Active-Bianchi team in 2010. The two talented young riders will form a very strong pair looking forward to the next season. Kerschbaumer captured both the individual and team relay Junior World title in 2009. In the same year he took the victory in the European and Italian Championships. “I’m proud to be part of TX Active-Bianchi as I’ve always looked at this team as a truly professional one and I’ve been impressed by their attention to small details. They leave no stone unturned”, Kerschbaumer said. “They always took part in the most important races of the international calendar. It is the right team for me and I’m looking forward to getting into the next season with my new team-mates and staff. I’m also excited to see my new Bianchi bike. I know the Methanol SL model is very fast, light and rigid: I can’t wait to ride it”. Team’s President Felice Gimondi is obviously delighted after signing the talented young biker: “Thanks to our sponsors we were able to seal the deal with Gerhard, the Italian MTB hope. We are very happy to have him in our roster and we believe he will be able to improve his qualities and abilities looking forward to 2012 Olympic Games. Last year he dominated the stage but also in 2010, at his first year as U23, he proved to be one of the most gifted bikers in the world”. TX Active-Bianchi will also add a new rider to its growing Junior team for the 2011 season. Team manager Andrea Ferrero will count on Beginner Chiara Teocchi. She was born in 1996 and is a XCO and cyclo-cross specialist. Photo of Kerschbaumer and Gimondi
