Cycling Pro Road & MtbBMC Racing Team Closes Season With Italian Races
What began in Australia in January ends in Italy this week when the BMC Racing Team closes its season with Gran Piemonte Thursday and Giro di Lombardia Saturday. Two Difficult Races Cadel Evans and Mauro Santambrogio will be the BMC Racing Team's protected leaders in both races, said Directeur Sportif John Lelangue. "We have a strong team of riders around them," Lelangue said. "Piemonte is a difficult race, mostly because of the final climb. Lombardia is always really difficult, especially since they've added a climb in the last 40 kilometers." Evans Ready Evans said he is motivated to finish strong, just as he started well at the Santos Tour Down Under in January. No Australian has ever won the Giro di Lombardia. "Lombardia is one of my favorite one-day races of the year," Evans said. "I have a lot of friends and family in this region so it's almost my 'home' race. For this reason, of course I want to do a good race."
