Cycling Pro Road & MtbTX Active-Bianchi adds Tony Longo to team’s roster
After the signing of former MTB Junior World Champion Gerhard Kershbaumer, TX Active-Bianchi is proud to announce that Italian Tony Longo will ride for Felice Gimondi’s team in 2011 and 2012. 26 year-old Longo, winner of nine races in 2010 including the Swiss Cup and three stages at the Giro della valle d'Aosta, constantly produced solid results at international level and took four podium positions at World Championships events during his brilliant career. He has signed a two-year contract with Bianchi MTB team. "I’m very happy to be part of the TX Active-Bianchi’s MTB project", Longo said after signing. Talking about his goals for 2011 he added, "My aim is to hit the World Cup series in peak shape. Of course the World Championships in September will be one of the main target of the season as well as the Italian national Championships held in Trentino Region, on my home soil". Announcing the signing of Tony Longo, TX Active-Bianchi’s team manager Massimo Ghirotto said: “He will reinforce our team’s roster in 2011 in the XCO events. He’s a good climber and strong on demanding courses. He will benefit huge from the way we work and I expect him to get back at top of his game in the most important international competitions such as the Internazionali d'Italia, the European and World Championships. I think he can move into the first 15 positions in the UCI ranking”.
