Sven Nijs (Landbouwkrediet) lost his left hand Shimano XTR pedal (PD-M970) in the sprint for victory of the Super Prestige cyclo-cross race in Gieten (The Netherlands) last Sunday. Shimano has studied the cause of this incident in co-operation with Team Landbouwkrediet. Conclusion of both parties is that the pedal was not tightened correctly, meaning the pedal did not break itself as has been stated in several media reports. We expect to have clarified this incident with the above conclusion.

Nijs finished the race in 4th position and continues to lead the Super Prestige classification.
