BMC Racing Team: aggressive strategy planned for Tirreno-Adriatico

With no time trial and absent a sprinter on its race roster, the BMC Racing Team has an aggressive strategy planned for Tirreno-Adriatico.

Three Pivotal Days

The seven-stage, 1,247 km Italian race begins Wednesday in weather that is expected to be downright cold. BMC Racing Team Director Sportif John Lelangue said that will be one of several challenges. "I think there are three difficult stages - 4, 5 and 6 - which are a little bit more hilly and selective. Knowing there is no time trial this year, every stage will be a little bit tricky." Alessandro Ballan was third overall in this race in 2006.

Tirreno-Adriatico Roster - March 10-16:

Alessandro Ballan (ITA), Brent Bookwalter (USA), Marcus Burghardt (GER), Cadel Evans (AUS), Mathias Frank (SUI), Thomas Frei (SUI), George Hincapie (USA), Karsten Kroon (NED).

Manager:

Jim Ochowicz (USA)

Sport Director:

John Lelangue (BEL)

Assistant Sport Director:

Fabio Baldato (ITA)

Press Officer:

Georges Lüchinger (LIE)

Staff:

Doctor: Giovanni Ruffini (ITA). Mechanics: Kevin Grove (USA), Ian Sherburne (USA), Andy Stone (USA). Soigneurs: Kaycee Evans (USA), Graeme McCallum (RSA), Jeremiah Ranegar (USA), Nick Vandecauter (BEL). Physical Therapist: David Bombeke (BEL). Bus Driver: Francis Bur (FRA).
