Cycling Pro Road & MtbJuanjo Cobo: “Ready for the mountains”
Juanjo Cobo, very active like all his Caisse d’Epargne team-mates since the 68th edition of Paris-Nice started last Sunday from Monfort-L’Amaury, said he is feeling well and is ready to help his leaders in the mountain stages. “In the first stages I was already feeling well even if I worked something less than other team-mates did”, explained the rider from Cantabria. “I am expected to be at my best level in the mountain stages to help our leaders, Alejandro Valverde and Luis León Sánchez. I have to be ahead in the decisive stages, which means from tomorrow on, in the stage which arrives at the top of the Col de Mende and where many things can happen.” “Yesterday in the Limoges stage I had to opportunity to check that I had good sensations when I forced the pace of the bunch while climbing the hill situated at fifteen kilometers from the finish.” “Team Caisse d’Epargne showed in the first stages it came to France with a big team and with the intention of winning the race. Till now we did what was expected from us. In the next stages we will keep on giving it all to confirm and will also try to make the level higher.” “I don’t believe that the cold weather will influence the race very much because almost all the riders who are here trained in such weather during the entire winter. Three weeks ago in the Mediterranean Tour it was even colder than here. Anyway the conditions are just the same for everybody”, concluded Juanjo Cobo.
