Ready for the Vuelta a Castilla Y León

The Footon-Servetto-Fuji team goes on this week with their race schedule in Spain, the Gold Generation having a calendar full of arrangements in the country for April. Right from tomorrow, Joxean Fernández Matxin and Sabino Angoitia will be directing the UCI ProTour’s youngest squad at the start of the 25th Vuelta a Castilla y León (UCI 2.1), running until Sunday 18th with five stages. The Castilian stagerace’s route will feature two demanding stages in the way to the finishing city in Galicia’s Santiago de Compostela: the big mountains will be tackled on Friday, with 159 kilometers from León to the Cat-1 Alto del Morredero, after passing over the selective Foncebadón, while the stage on Saturday, a 15-km ITT in and around Ponferrada, will definitely mark the fight for the GC. Local hero Enrique Mata, returning into competition after several problems in his knee, will join the majority of the successful group at Amorebieta, as Alberto Benítez, Marco Corti, Tom Faiers, David Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, Pedro Merino and Iban Mayoz complete the 7-man squad at Belorado’s start.
