Le Mans 24 Hour Cycling race: It is budging on the circuit!

The 24-Hour-Cycling-race second edition’s start “type Le Mans” will be done on next 21st August. Proof of the interest for the race, near 900 cyclists have already registered, starting with the 2009 winners by category who will throw in their title, a number of entrants up 25% compared with the same period last year. The 24 Hour Cycling race is echoed across the Channel. This year, the English event RIDE24’s winners, a 24-hour endurance race (on 19/20 June), will be invited to take part in the party and to join contestants on the starting line.

The equipment manufacturer Shimano will be again present through its technical assistance and wheels loan. This year the brand will make available test bikes fitted with the DURA ACE DI2 technology that you will be able to try throughout the weekend. Loyal towards the Tour de France and creator of the race “10H du Coeur” (Heart’s 10 Hour) which will be held on the Castellet’s circuit on next 16th May, SKODA will be also partner of the Le Mans 24 Hour Cycling race. Of course, it will field teams to enter the event. Furthermore, Mondial Assistance (assistance, insurance and services), which was competitor in 2009, has become the whole safety device’s sponsor.

The “Matinale DECATHLON” will forego the 24Hour Cycling race’s start: in 2009, this convivial meeting had enabled more than 550 people to experience the circuit for one hour… on bike.

Finally, to improve the public’s view, organizers have agreed with Vincent Beaumesnil (ACO tracks’ Director) so as to allow an access near the racetrack all along the famous Dunlop uphill: whereof find again a little of the Tour de France routes’ magic!

Romain Gasnal (CGO Agency, the event’s organizer) reminds: “The entrance is free for the public who will be able to take advantage of activities on the spot : marbles course, VTT trial exhibitions, recumbent or electric bicycles tests, musical animations, “le Musée du Vélo de la Fresnaye-sur-Chédouet” (Bicyle Museum’s exhibition), catering area and other surprises to come!”
