NewsBritish Stage Win On Sprinter Stage
Nine riders escaped from the field on today's 172 kilometer long 12th stage of Vuelta a Espana from Andorra del Vella and Lleida and 23 kilometers from the finish line, the breakaway was caught by the sprinter teams. Team Saxo Bank Swiss power engine, Fabian Cancellara was an outstanding support in the cross wind for team captain, Fränk Schleck on the side of the raging peloton to avoid mishaps. In the last right turn 300 meters from the finish line, Mark Cavendish (Columbia) was in second position behind his teammate and he made the sprint to a beautiful stage win look very easy. Igor Anton (Euskaltel) is still in the lead of the race ahead of tomorrow's ride over 196 kilometers.
