Dear Editor, by little more than two years that I attempt with the race bike. I run about 7000 km the year.

Currently I have a De Rosa Merak aluminum with carbon fork and wagon. Now I would like to turn to a De Rosa Merak Carbon 2011, with full SRAM Force, Mavic Cosmic Carbon SL wheels, San Marco Zoncolan saddle, Look Keo carbon pedals, handlebar and FSA attack, the bike I was offered at 3600 Euros. Given my limited experience in the field I wanted an opinion on the model and its assembly.

Dear Reader, the De Rosa Merak Carbon is an excellent frame, not in weight but extremely rigid, with good comfort. Performance is broadly in line with other products of the same price range. Of course, as the "coat of arms De Rosa", but also the careful attention paid to construction can not be competitive in price compared to other products of mass production, serving, however, a lower grip on the used market, less charm and minor design features. For performance and quality, the price of only frame kit is still correct. The bike has been proposed that the assembly has a good, very nice and appropriate quality and consistent, both between the various components with the same frame. With high profile Cosmic Carbon wheels will enhance the best characteristics of speed and rigidity of Merak Carbon, making it very competitive bike on the flat road and climbs slightly. Wheels are not difficult to climb, but the same frame is not suitable for hard climbs. A bike of great charm, for the name De Rosa, but also by the excellent overall quality and undoubted, perfect and very competitive if driven into the ground more congenial to her: the plain. The price quoted seems very interesting. Excellent, the choice of secondary components, such as Look Keo Carbon pedals and Selle San Marco Zoncolan. A bike on the whole very good, reliable, good performance and long lasting.
