Q&A

The bike suitable for amateur cyclist

Dear Editor, compliments for your website that helps me a lot. I recently (6 months) became an amateur cyclist; I am 45 years old, weight 68kg per173cm. I do all types of trails for about 200km per week in three outings, my current bike is a Murano Sab. I want to change it but I do not know how to make my choice between many models.

Here is my question, in your experience and knowledge as a bicycle or bike in those types of carbon would be more etched in me, knowing I search for a reliable especially with aluminum wheels (I have read carefully the article "the best wheels street")? I like to climb and go out even if it rains. As for the price I am willing to spend from 2000 to 3500 € approx. I want to improve myself, I would also like to participate in sports and 2 or 3 Granfondo. Thank you so much for all that advice you give me.

Dear Reader, thanks for the compliments. It's difficult to answer your question, because there are many variables and many choices you can make. First, it is unclear if it is half or less comfortable amenities, but more performance. Indeed, it is simplistic to talk about the carbon frame, like a comfortable frame, as many of this are far more rigid and uncomfortable for many aluminum frames. Among the most comfortable frames and geometrically stable, even on bumpy, reports the Bianchi Infinito, the Cannondale Synapse and the Specialized Roubaix. Slightly uncomfortable, but more reactive, the Wilier Granturismo, more responsive and the stiff Bianchi Sempre, or the Colnago CX-1Evo, performance and price that is at the limit of its availability. Then add the new Cannondale CAAD 10, although with an aluminum frame is certainly less convenient than some bike listed above. Obviously the list is much longer but it is better to stop. All models listed above have excellent reliability and overall quality. The Bianchi Sempre is a proposal for relatively cheap, a bike with very good quality and good value for money, of course, is not very light. The Bianchi Infinito is more challenging economically, but the bike is more comfortable, safe and secure from the models listed in the top range version is also lightweight and excellent in absolute terms. Cannondale Synapse and Specialized Roubaix are also excellent and offer the possibility of a wide range of prices, as they are available in different frames and assemblies. For the same price, with the other competitors, they offer slightly higher overall performance, but with a higher mix of components, which may not be liked. Wilier Granturismo is the one with the greater attention paid to construction, is stiffer than a Bianchi Infinito, more expensive, but with slightly higher performance, despite having a lower comfort. The Colnago CX-1 Evo, is a bike by the excellent build quality, is expensive, more rigid than a Bianchi Infinito, but not so far from a Wilier Granturismo in comfort as all the Colnago has excellent guide, but a price over competitors. Finally, the Cannondale CAAD 10 has the best price performance of all models listed, it is light, stiff and responsive, but not very comfortable. Now, with your budget, if you look for comfort in his place would choose the Bianchi Infinito or alternatively the Specialized Roubaix or Cannondale Synapse, in their various versions according to its actual budget. If you want to privileged performance secure Cannondale CAAD 10 for the best prices, or, breaking the piggy bank, aiming at a Colnago CX-1 Evo or a Wilier Granturismo, two very good bike to build quality, less comfortable than rivals but with higher performance.
